Work With Dr. Shepherd

Let's have a direct conversation.

Discovery calls are 30 minutes. No pitch. I'll tell you directly whether and how I can help — and if I can't, I'll tell you that too.

How the discovery call works

I take on a limited number of engagements at any time. The discovery call is how we both figure out whether a deeper conversation makes sense — without wasting either of our time on a proposal that won't fit.

Come with a specific challenge or context. I'll tell you what I see, what I'd likely do, and whether my practice is the right match. If it isn't, I'll tell you who might be.

What to expect

01

You submit a short intake form

Four questions about your situation, timeline, and what you're trying to solve. This ensures I can have an informed conversation, not a cold introduction.

02

We meet for 30 minutes

I'll start with what I read in your intake. You'll have my full, focused attention — no multitasking, no pitch deck queued up.

03

I give you a direct read

If we're a fit, I'll tell you what engagement model makes sense and what the next step looks like. If we're not, I'll say that clearly.

04

No proposal until fit is confirmed

Proposals take time to write and read. I don't send them speculatively. If the call confirms fit, we'll move to a scoping conversation before anything formal.

This call is probably not right for you if…

  • You're looking for a vendor who'll submit a proposal to multiple candidates
  • You need something that starts in more than 60 days (I plan capacity in advance)
  • You're unsure about PE/board-level advisory and want exploratory education first — the AI Governance Playbook is the better starting point
  • You want a broad strategic assessment with no operational accountability attached
